What is Onion-shell Reality?
1.
A philosophical concept first introduced by Joshua Sawyers, a University of Pittsburgh student majoring in Information Science, that attempts to understand reality in terms of the shells of an onion, with the "outer shell" being the ultimate reality, and the entire "onion" being the ultimate nature of reality. Given that this perspective produces multiple possibilities that cannot all be simultaneously true, the perspective fails to provide a concrete picture of reality, and instead attempts to examine the multiple possibilities associated with it, given mankind's incomplete knowledge of everything in existence. According to this philosophical perspective, whether or not our universe is in the outermost shell of reality or the inner most shell of reality, whether or not there are subsequent inner and/or outer shells, and whether or not these shells are open or closed to one another, lead to numerable combinations that may or may not be true. The perspective must also establish the acceptance that nothingness exists beyond the outer shell of the "onion."
I feel like we're part of an Onion-Shell Reality.
