Typically worn by females, but is now increasingly worn by males as well. Uses include: warmth, insulation, attractiveness, smoothing of leg color, blemish-hider, vericose vein relief as well as leg comfort for those who stand all day...and basically you get panty/boxer, socks in one article of clothing. Pantyhose basically enhance the look of the legs.
In the beginning, pantyhose were called tights and were worn by men in centuries past. Over past decades, the fetish community has seen its share of persons obsessed with pantyhose. Be it for the look the feel or the ideas involved, this is an article of clothing that will cross the lines between female and male. It is almost unisex fashion now. Despite the women who hate them, the uses in comfort and fashion by both sexes will keep this clothing item a thing of lasting endurance.
Example would be: Best example are the waitresses from Hooters restaraunts, Janet, from Three's Company...always wore tan/suntan colored pantyhose. Usually women in a professional workplace, secretaries, managers, ect... Also, majorettes and colorguard/flag corp in high school marching bands, as well as NFL cheerleaders, even in theatre and dance. While pantyhose are diferent from tights (a thicker (more opaque) more cotton type blend) and stockings (which are held up by a garter or thigh-highs) <----while pantyhose are different, examples are of any individual wearing a basically colored, tight-fitting article of clothing under other articles such as pants or dresses, with heels or tennis shoes, or with shorts.
