What is Paradiddle?

The name given to a technical exercise (also known as 'rudiments') performed on a drum... by a drummer, consisting of an alternating pattern using both left and right hands. There are many types of Paradiddle, for example:
(R= right hand L= left hand)
Standard Paradiddle: RLRR LRLL RLRR LRLL
Inverted Paradiddle: RLLR LRRL RLLR LRRL
Paradiddlediddle: RLRRLL RLRRLL RLRRLL RLRRLL

A rudiment often practiced on the snare drum. You can funk it up using toms to give some complex fills.

R L R R L R L L and increase the tempo!

A rudiment used in drumming consisting of 4 notes. When you say paradiddle it sounds like what your playing. When you play a right paradiddle you play 1 right followed by a left and then followed by 2 other rights. It's the same for the left handed paradiddle.
"I just learned a new rudiment, it's called a paradiddle!"
