Paradoxonym

What is Paradoxonym?

1.

Paradoxonym. A term to describe a misspelled word that is not recognized or corrected by spell-check engines because it is a correctly spelled word, but not the actual word intended for use by the author.

The spellchecked document is assumed to have correct spelling. However, because of paradoxonyms the spellchecked document must be further analyzed to ensure correct spelling of the intended words.

Paradoxonym examples: 1. Author types "wood", but intended to spell "would". 2. Author types "all", but intended to spell "awl". 3. Author types "skies", but intended to spell "skis".

In all cases, spell check will find no spelling errors when in fact there are spelling errors.
