What is Pathan?

An ethnicity that originated from Northwest Pakistan and Afghanistan. In common language, any person from that region is referred to as Pathan, even though several other ethnicites also originate from that region.
Due to the severe lack of infrastructure in that region, a great majority of them lack education and are often found doing menial jobs.
In slang terms it refers to a hard headed person, or someone stupid.
Man you are acting like a complete Pathan today. Forget to take your pills?
