Gratuitous and calculated efforts by Western media, aid agencies, governments and singers to perpetuate Africa as a needy continent, rather than potentially self-sufficient through ethical governance. A generally useful device to fundraise for various causes. Relies on American's woeful geographic and cultural ignorance.
