The origin of this term comes from paedophilia, where by young children would be abducted, stripped very fast and taken photos of before being allowed to return (or being indecently assaulted). The term was shortened to photo-speed when the child was to be stripped at the speed it would be done on quick shots when there was a high chance of being discovered, and from there was just shortened to photo.*
