The exact opposite of a bourgeois (middle to upper class). A system in which people strive to be respectably poor looking. Buy clothes that make you seem homely, so that people do not expect that you are truly wealthy. Its "cultural camoflauge" Look impoverished, when you truly have excess moneys. Its a Status Symbol.
John was a rich mf, but because he kept getting moochers, he decided to dress in a poorgeois fashion. Now no one expects his wealth.
