Socialising/hanging out with friends with no intention of doing anything in particular, and/or the activity is to be decided on when the friends meet up.
The advantages of using the term means there is no pressure to organise something straight away, rather, it can be decided upon later.
Greg: "Hey Bill, you up for some quothin' tonight?"
Bill: "Sure, I'll be over in ten."
