What is Red Army Faction?

Also known as RAF, Rote Armee Fraktion, and the Baader-Meinhof gang. Leftist-communist terrorist organization in Germany active from the late 60's to early 90's. Lead by Andreas Baader and Gudrun Ensslin, the group was responsible for many bank robberies, car thefts, bombings, assassinations, and various other naughty activities. Received training in Jordan from Palestinian terrorists. Leaders were eventually caught and either committed suicide or were executed on the morning of October 18th, 1977. However, terrorist activities continued until the early 90's.

Their symbol was an H&K Machine pistol overlaid on a star, with the letters "RAF" printed over it.

The Red Army Faction loved stealing BMWs so much, germans would joke that BMW stood for Baader-Meinhof Wagon.
