Reverse Streisand

What is Reverse Streisand?

1.

A Reverse Streisand is when you feign an attempt to block or ban something in order to hype it - as opposed to the straight Streisand, where you actually want to impose censorship according to your own (aesthetic) idiosyncrasies, but end up accidentally making everyone talk about what you wanted censored.

Studio: "OMG! Someone leaked our great new title 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'! FBI is totally investigating and we are enraged!"

Interwebs: "LoL - they leaked it themselves! A classic Reverse Streisand move."

See hypocrisy, censorship, oink
