Rômaji is the process by which Japanese words are taken and converted phonetically, into words spelt from the Roman alphabet, which is used in many western languages such as English.

English: Hexagon

Hiragana/Katakana: ろくへんけい

Phonetic: "Rô-ku-hen-kay"

Romaji: Rôkuhenkei
