What is Roumaji?

Roumaji (commonly spelt as romaji or misspelled as romanji) is the use of the roman alphabet for transcribing Japanese sounds.

"私は亜希子です。"

becomes the somewhat more English-speaker friendly roumaji "Watashi wa Akiko desu."
