What is ²?

The power to square a word in conversation is a powerful tool to add to the ever expanding toolbox that is the english language.
1, When you have two consecutive, identical words it is often easier to square them.
2, A similar effect to putting an x- before a word (such as x-treme or x-files), by putting a word to the power of 2 it adds that extra boon.
Both definitions are generally pronounced as 'squared', rather than the nerdier 'to the power of two'.
'My sleeping bag² just exploded'
'Woah, that was like mega-x-treme²'
