There are cultures that have no difficulty integrating people who change sex roles, often holding them with high regard, such as the traditional role for 'two-spirit' people found among certain native American tribes.

My grandmother was Native American and sometimes I wonder if she would have accepted the lifestyle that I've chosen and I would be call 2spirit.
