What is Sapho?

A greek poetess who expressed a strong loving emotion for some of her female pupils in several of her poems. Since she and her mates lived on the island of Lesbo, it lead to the name lesbian for an homosexual woman. Female homosexuality is also called saphism in reference to Sapho.

Sapho's poetry is one of the major ancesters of feminism
