When you "gamble", and you think you've "lost", the act of checking your underwear with your index finger (with or without toilet paper) to see if you've "lost".

While I was on my way to work I had to fart. So I let one go and it felt a little wet. I went to the bathroom and checked. As the saying goes, when in doubt send a scout.
