What is Shine-box?

(verb transitive; present-progressive, "shine-boxing;" past tense, "shine-boxed"): To repeatedly taunt and insinuate another person on a sensitive topic to the point that the insulted party becomes violently angry.

Billy Batts shine-boxes Tommy in the film "Goodfellas" by continuing to refer to Tommy's past, in spite of Tommy's repeated requests for Batts to stop. This reaches a climax when a pretense to be respectful is shattered as Batts yells loud enough for everyone in the bar to hear, "Now go home and get your fucking shine box!"
