What is Social Darwinism?

The theory that a person's place in society is determined by his traits. A person who has better traits is higher in social heriarchy. The implications of this effect mean that the superior human beings will be the ones who have great wealth and sucess. Obviously, there are many anomalies, such as a person who has inherited his social standing.
Social darwinism and the natural rift between social classes with allow for evolution to continue. The original darwinism applied to nature and survival. In the modern age, all people have equal chances of survival due to the availability of adequate sustainance to all. Therefore, the classical darwinism no longer applies to the human race. Due to the tendency for people to mate inside their own social class, the superior humans in higher society (according to social darwinism) will bear superior offspring. This could create different levels of evolution and huge physical differences (perhaps even new supspecies of humans) in the future.

A widely circulated belief that human evolution will sort itself through the actions or inactions of stupid individuals eliminating themselves from the gene pool. Mean while the prude, wise actions of society as a whole cause them to adapt, survive and evolve.
The idea is very similiar to the so called, "Darwin Awards" where people get awarded for doing stupid actions that eliminate them from the genetic pool. 1000 ways to die as seen on Spike TV is a really good example of this at work.

The belief that since anyone is capable of having children, society is not evolving. Social darwinists believe that anyone who's genes do not contribute to the well being of society should be sterilized.
