A chairwoman 's prerogative and personal preference: an intimate relationship with a SOFA or other article of furniture.
SOFISTRY is a practice most often discreetly engaged in by ladies. However, gentlemen have been known to indulge in this forgiveable aberration if left alone with a sofa whose scatter-cushions seem particularly soft and inviting.
Participants caught in flagrante, pants round ankles, usually explain their behaviour with various excuses and forms of sophistry . For example:
"It's the first time I've ever done this. I'm so embarrassed - but that sofa is just sooo seductive!"
"Don't blame me! That uncovered settee was just asking for it - I couldn't help myself!"
