What is Soft Counter?

1) The process of presenting compensation when rejecting an offer of a date.

2) To recommend a general substitute in place of the originally planned date.

3) The lesser extent of Hard counter.

guy: Would you like to have dinner this Friday night?

girl (soft countering): Oh, I would, but I'm busy this weekend. How about someday next week though?
