Sohni means beautiful, or pretty lady in the Punjabi language. It is also the root of the Indian name for a girl, Sonia. In Hindi, Urdu and maybe even some other dialects of India, "sohni" (pronounced sone-ee, like sony corp.) is used in conjunction with "kuri" (pronounced kooree) as "sohni kuri" to mean "beautiful girl/lady." As for Punjabi, a more slang oriented dialect from the northern state of Punjab, as well as for many songs, "sohni-eh/sohnia" would be the correct pronunciation.
