The word Sotan is an affectionate name for residents of the state of Minnesota. The name is derived from the latter portion of the word Minne-"sota". Sotans enjoy the game of hockey, have a fond appreciation for all outdoor activities, and were often raised on an odd type of casserole referred to as "hotdish". Known for their extreme politeness, the etiquette adhered to by the average Sotan is referred to as "Minnesota nice." Sotans are not all blue-eyed, blonde haired Scandinavians; anyone who works hard and plays hard within the borders of the state of Minnesota is technically a Sotan.

He wasn't even wearing a coat? Well, I guess he is a Sotan, afterall.
