An item of clothing most commonly used for psychiatric purposes, bondage, and a fashion item. The straitjacket or straightjacket is a garment shaped like a jacket with overlong sleeves. The ends of these can be tied to the back of the wearer. This is for restraint; whether for safety of wearer or excitement. Institutional straitjackets are generally made of canvasor duck cloth. Bondageor fashion straitjackets most commonly use leather or pvc.
