What is Swaminarayan?

It's comprised of two words 'Swami' and 'Narayan' where Swami is 'Ideal Devotee' and Narayan is 'Supreme God' Himself. This is a 'Bhakti' sampraday.

Bhagwan Swaminarayan established this sampraday so that every individual on this earth may attain salvation. At present the true saint following the principles of Bhagwan Swaminarayan is Pragat Brahmswarup Pramukh Swami Maharaj. He is the head of BAPS - Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha.

The Swaminarayan Sampraday is a Bhakti Sampraday founded by Lord Swaminarayan on 31 December 1801 CE. It belongs to the Vaishnav tradition and represents the purest form of the Hindureligion. It focuses its faith on salvation through total devotion - bhakti - to the Supreme God developed through dharma, jnan and vairagya
