What is Taiwan Independence?
1.
Politicians in Taiwan are bitterly denouncing a proposed Chinese law explicitly forbidding any Taiwanese moves toward independence and large protests are planned for Sunday. The response comes after China placed Taiwan at the top of its annual legislative agenda Saturday.
Taiwanese of all political stripes are gearing up for mass protests against the proposed Chinese anti-secession law.
Come Sunday, more than 50,000 people are expected to join a series of marches and demonstrations in Taipei and Kaohsiung.
At issue is China's new anti-secession law, expected to pass at the current National People's Congress, which opened Saturday in Beijing.
The exact contents of the law remain under wraps but the order is expected to authorize military action if Taiwan declares formal independence from the mainland.
Although Beijing claims Taiwan as its own, the island has been self-governing since 1949 following the communist victory in China's civil war.
Opening China's annual legislative session Saturday, Prime Minister Wen Jiabao made clear reunification with Taiwan is a priority.
"The draft of the law we will review reflects our commitment to work for peaceful reunification, honestly and with great effort," said Wen Jiabao.
But leaders in Taiwan have already rejected China's assurances this is not a prelude to possible aggression.
Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council Friday issued a statement saying military intimidation is replacing goodwill and could have grave consequences for relations.
Taiwan is apparently considering a host of responses depending on the final language of the law. Arthur Ding is a research fellow at Taiwan's National Chenchi University.
"It all depends on the wording of the anti secession law if the wording is very strong, our response might also be very strong," said Arthur Ding.
Even Taiwan's bitterly divided, political camps say they are united against the new Chinese policy.
Ruling and opposition lawmakers came forward Friday with a rare joint resolution calling on Beijing to reconsider the anti-secession legislation.

It is all too sad to hear that China would actually use military intimidation as a tactic to disallow the independence of Taiwan.
Taiwan will one day find independence!

Instead of FORCING Taiwan to unite with the, China should consider giving Taiwan reasons why they should be unified. If China fixed problems such as UNSUITABLE
A: WHY is CHINA CONSTANTLY BADGERING TAIWAN?
B: BECAUSE THEY are AFRAID TAIWAN MIGHT DECLARE INDEPENDECE.
A: WHY IS THAT?
B: BECAUSE CHINA IS LIKE A SPOILED BIG ASS BRAT WHO WANTS TO OWN EVERYTHING GOOD IN THE WORLD BUT CAN'T GET, SO THEY USE THE ONLY METHOD THEY KNOW BEST TO GET IT, VIOLENCE AND BLACKMAIL AND ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH EVIL.
A: OH...ICI

Imagine if Taiwan never existed...what would be of China today? China's economy would probably be way worse than it is today. One of the many reasons why China's economy is improving today is because business people from other countries, including Taiwan, are moving to China in search for better oppurtunities. They bring with them their wealth and they establish more jobs as well as boost China's economy.
All I can say now is, thank God for the establishment of Taiwan otherwise I dare not imagine what a dump China would be like today.
If China is so powerful, why is Taiwan independence such a big threat to them?
Seriously, what is the big deal with Taiwan independence? I say to the imbeciles who oppose, go and rot in the alleys of China you bums!

Independence for Taiwan
ehhno, stop sucking on your moms dick and get a life. Are you from China? because I was once there and saw two homosexual men giving each other blowjobs in the middle of the street, and I think one of them was you.

Taiwan has been under government independent of china since 1949, when the KMT, defeated by the communists, retreated there. Taiwan was removed from UN in the 50s, and no longer widely recognized as a country, though US, Japan, and a few other nations still do.
taiwan independence refers to the yet-to-come formal declaration of Taiwan's independence and secession from the mainland.
this can be seen as one of two things: ass-kissing the japanese or mass suicide. I will explain--logically, mostly without bias (something uncommon on this website)--why this is so.
traditionally Taiwan has relied on Japanese and American presence to prevent China from just waltzing in and setting up shop. But if Taiwan officially declares independence, war WILL break out (China will defend, without fail and exception, what she rightfully sees as her own with military force, as she has done before). and America, already deeply fucked over the war on terror, is not gonna wholeheartedly intervene.
so that leaves Japan to fend off China for Taiwan. in the unlikely circumstance that Japan succeeds (alright let's face it, the japanese are good at making robot dogs and PS2s, but war? Their army is a tad, what we'd call, PUNY compared to China's massive war machine), Taiwan will be under virtual control of Japan (all Japan has to do is station some troops for the taiwaneses' "protection"--not a new tactic).
should taiwanese "independence" succeed this is the inevitable outcome, and the Taiwanese politicians know that. and that's exactly what they're counting on, kissing the ass of teh japs.
and in the OTHER unlikely circumstance, that in fact Taiwan is going for true independence, this can be only seen as mass suicide. China WILL defend what she sees as rightfully hers; half of China's mobilized army can flatten, PHYSICALLY FLATTEN, Taiwan in about a week, IF RESISTANCE PROVES FIERCE.
and I honestly doubt it will. there is much mixing of population between taiwan and mainland; rich mainland businessmen have family in taiwan, and vice versa. Taiwan will not put up a big fight. and so independence without help is mass suicide.
and finally for the record (this part my own opinions): if china preventing taiwan independence is so "brutal", "totalitarian", and "nazi", then what the fuck was the entire US civil war about? u just fucking "prevented with military force" the confederates from walking out! if that's not fucking "totalitarian" i don't know what the fuck it is.
now shut the fuck up, dumbass whiteys, and take your hippie "ooh communism is bad" shit somewhere else. China's barely communist anyway. go bitch about cuba. and before you start tossing big words around, look up the definition of those words, and you JUST MAY learn something.

Quote Peteyz15: "It is all too sad to hear that China would actually use military intimidation as a tactic to disallow the independence of Taiwan."
Uhh no, Taiwan is a small island nation that would have gotten run over a long time ago if it wasn't for the Americans. It was occupied by the losers of the Chinese revolution and turned into a rogue states, so China should be able to do whatever it wants to control its own property. The only sad thing is listening to pathetic whiny brats indulge themselves in their self-created illusions that Taiwan is somehow legitimately independent, has the unfounded power to declare itself independent, magically able to defeat China in war.
The definition "Taiwan independence" has nothing to do with urban phrases and is just the mindless tittering of hyper little kids.
