Temple is the up-and-coming power of the Mid- AmericanConference. After Temple defeated Northern Illinois, 16-15, on Oct. 6, 2007, NIU coach Joe Novak said, "I said it last year and I'll say it again, Temple is the team of the futurein this league." The Owls have recruited the top two classes in 2006 and 2007 as ranked by collegefootballnews and scout.

University of Southern California football is more like Temple football in that the two teams play in large cities.
