Typing something into an empty text message and showing someone that's right next to you, then handing it to them so they can type a response into the same message, used as an alternative to just talking to them, whether it be too loud or you just want some privacy, and just plain texting wouldn't do for whatever reason.

I was in the car with my boyfriend and his brother, so I gave him a text showage because I didn't want his brother to know what we were talking about.
