British comedy team comprised of Tim Brooke-Taylor, Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie, all of whom met during the satire boom of the early 1960s and appeared together in various stage shows, radio shows, and TV programmes before joining together in 1970 to produce the first series of The Goodies for BBC Television. The series ran for ten years and its blend of surreal humour, silent movie-style slapstick, outrageous larger-than-life visual gags and corny wordplay gave the team a wide appeal, and their shows consistently attracted high viewing figures. In 1981, the Goodies moved to the commercial station London Weekend Television for one final series before disbanding. They regrouped in 2004 for an Australian stage tour and again in 2005 for a BBC2 special, the Return of the Goodies.
"The Goodies are seen by some as a poor man's Monty Python, but I think they stand on their own merits as one of the great TV comedy teams of all time"
