What is Timid Poke?

A timid poke is the result where one of two people is not yet ready for intercourse, but is willing to let the other person "put it in to see what it feels like." A timid poke, or TP for short, often leads to further intercourse, but occasionally represents the maximum achieved penetration.
I figured that if I could talk her into a timid poke I would be able seal the deal, but no dice.
