To bail on any form of entertainment with your friends due to obligations to the wife. The person who falls victim to this accusation is whipped in this particular instance, and therefore the phrase "wifed out" can be used to taunt said person.
Joe's not going to make it to bowling tonight; he wifed out. (past tense version of "to wife out")
