When something happens that is so brutal you have to shorten "totally brutal" because of it's awesome brutalness. It can also be used to describe heavy and brutal music. Also works with things that suck and things that are lame.
"Dude, Marty face planted on the sidewalk the other day and totally scraped his face off."
"Oh that's totes brute dude."
