The word is a modern day syntax of downhillmountain biking. Made popular by bikers from the East Coast, the term has traveled across the country. One who shows great control on a mountain bike in adverse situations. One who adapts to his surroundings and accepts the fate of what lies before him.

The word can be used as a noun to express trail characteristics and soil conditions.

He pulled a "tractionmag" out of that last corner with more speed than he knew what to do with.
