What is Tramping?

In New Zealand, overnight hiking is called tramping. Trampers carry all their gear with them and tramp either to huts (there is an extensive system in the NZ backcountry) or tent camp. Tramping can be a verb as well as an activity as in "I'm all tramped out" at the end of a long day.

We spent the weekend tramping up in Nelson Lakes National Park.
