trire = "halfway between trite and tripe". The definition of this new word should be an even mix of both definitions:

trite

1. lacking in freshness or effectiveness because of constant use or excessive repetition; hackneyed; stale.

2. characterized by hackneyed expressions, ideas, etc.

tripe

slang. something, esp. speech or writing, that is false or worthless; rubbish.

So trire would be

- stale garbage

- hackneyed and worthless

- repetitive trash

After the hit series "Married with Children" on FOX started to wind down, WB tried to duplicate its success with "Unhappily Ever After". Though the new show had some moments, it ending up being just so much trire.
