A cross between trashy and popular. Usually applied to movies and television, when a show is wildly popular, but contains profanities, vulgarities and sexual content.

I can't believe it. The movie South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut is so tropular! It is famous, but it contains hundreds of uncensored swear words!
