They play a diverse range of music which includes elements of electronic, hip hop, trip-hop, a capella, free jazz, house, and blues. The band was formed by two members: Tunde Adebimpe and David Sitek. Also in the band are Kyp Malone, Jaleel Bunton, and Gerard Smith. They are also joined by other contributors on their albums.
