An extremely stable and good Linux distrothat runs off of the Gnomedesktop environment. Ubuntu is offered free of charge and can be shipped to your home in two formats: a liveboot CD, and also an install CD. Ubuntu is a good OS for people that are new to Linux.

I currently use Ubuntu v5.04.
