An alternate expression for the middle finger. Often gestured in heavily urbanized areas where sleep is of a myth and stress is more abundant than polluted air. Considered a salute because it is one of the most prevalent ways in which a stranger engages another individual like a hand shake or a hug is prominent in lesser disturbed regions.
Guy 1: Dude, I hailed a taxi cab but the bastard ignored me so I gave him the urban salute.
