To buff up, or overpower a monster or player character. The word comes from the character named Uthger at Narfell. Metagaming is also rampant on such monsters or PCs.

War machines and remnants are powerful already, why did the DM have to Uthger them up?

Uthger is the name of a popular player character in the Neverwinter Nights persistent world of Narfell. The name "Uthger" is derived from and is in tribute to the Dungeons and Dragons god "Uthgar".

Uthger is out in the Rawlinswood smashing goblins again.
