The phenomenon in which persons on the internet use personal experiences, preconceived notions, 2nd hand accounts and/or vague memories of articles to criticize, debunk and discard actual scientific, factual or otherwise documented cases as reported, often simplified, by the media.

- I'm calling BS. A friend of my uncle's neighbour once did that and it insert conflicting statement here.
