What is Yankee Television?

Having the television turned on with the sound off, and playing music (typically on a stereo). Although not required, yankee television is usually accompanied by "altered" states of mind. Yankee television is so called owing to the fact that it usually done by people from the northern United States.
Since there's nothing on TV tonight, I'm just going to watch yankee television.
