Amaterasu (literally "Shining Heaven"), is a technique used by Uchiha Itachiwhile enabling the Mangekyou Sharingan. It is named after the Shinto sun goddess, Amaterasu. This jutsu is fire-element ninjutsu of the highest order and creates unquenchable jet-black flames said to be as hot as the sun and capable of burning for seven days and seven nights, as well as through any material.
