Band Camp

What is Band Camp?

1.

1. A strange mixture of hell and the best time of your life.

2. Where band geeks go to socialize, practice their instruments, practice their drill, have severe dehydration, and generally improve their marching band.

I can't wait to faint from heat exhaustion at band camp!

2.

When marching band students have to attend a program (either at their school or somewhere else, like a summer camp or college) for a period of time averaging about a week (depends on the school). Here they practice their instruments, learn/memorize songs for the upcoming season, and learn drills and how to march. For some people, it's the best time of their lives, for others it's a living hell. It all depends on the particular school and band.

-Despite common perception, not all band camps are merely staging grounds for sexual activity. Some schools enlist the help of band parents in chaperoning the trip to make sure that the students (particularly the freshmen) don't get away with anything illegal or sexual in nature. Furthermore, sources show that most flute players have never shoved their flute into any part of their bodies, despite the line about it in American Pie.

Typical band camp activities may include: Marching, standing in the hot sun for hours, getting eaten alive by bugs, marching, playing instruments, getting weird tan lines, marching, choking down partially edible food, coming up with strange inside jokes nobody outside of band will ever understand, getting soaked, getting lost in nearby woods at night, sleeping, pulling off pranks, and oh yeah, more marching.

2)An excuse to tell a long (or not so long), funny, and often stupid story.

3)Where all your friends in band are during the summer. (also a viable excuse for not seeing your friends if you're in band.)

1)A few weeks before school started, the Anytown High School marching band went to band camp.

2)"This one time at band camp... we got lost in the woods on our way to practice and then these moquitoes that were like THIS BIG attacked us so I fended them off with my clarinet and then Jimmy jumped out at us and I got so scared I hit him with my clarinet too..."

3)-"Dude, I haven't seen you since July... where were you?"

-"Yeah, I was at band camp."

3.

Some say it is the best place on Earth.

It is a place where every summer, a group of like minded, geeky and goofy kids with instuments all migrate to a common place to spend a week or two (three if you're serious) playing their instuments with each other. It is also a place where it's OK to wear your glasses instead of contacts.

The first time I ever went to summer camp, I went to BAND CAMP! And shall continue to do so....

4.

a place to get away for the non band kids who think you're weird, and a place to hang with your lovers

I'm glad band camp was this week, I couldn't wait to see Tom, and get away from Devon and Andrew!!!

5.

Generally a one week experience of hell on earth. It can include, but not limited to, sun burns, extreme pain, dizziness, gross food, and torture.

Everything hurts! I swear band camp is like hell on earth. AND IT'S ONLY MONDAY!!!

6.

The time before Marching Season starts, tradtionally a couple before school starts. They practice drills and marching. They recieve show music for football games and practice it.

NO sexual actions are performed during this time. its not the time for sex, its time for work. So if you think bad things happen, get it over it. That "one time at band camp..." thing is so false. Get over it.

"Last year at band camp, she totally fainted from locking her kness."

Band Camp is usually a one-two week experience at the school you attend. Marching drills are learned while in the sun getting wierdly shaped tan lines. American Pie is no definition of this. "One time at band camp...I put a flute in my pussy." That's a lie. It's basically physically impossible. Band camp is a time where students can learn their drills for football games at half-time, chill with friends and make new ones. In band camp, students usually go through basics, full enmemble, sectionals, drill, and parade march. Full ensemble is when the entire band gets together and practices the music or routine they learned in sectionals. Marching is usually not required. Sectionals is when tubas, battery, pit, flutes, trumpets and so on seperate and learn their own music so the leader of that group can focus on one person at a time. Drill is when the band goes on the field, or anything size related as far as sidelines and hash marks, and learns movements. Parade march is basically getting in lines to march in a big parade. Basics are boring streatches and marches learned to make a nice band.

One time...at band camp...I laughed so hard I peed.
