What is Degrading?

Degrading can mean a lot of things. To lower in grade or rank of something. Or to lower in self esteem, for instance you single yourself out in a negative manner or you seem ok at first sight but then after getting to know you you reveal that you are really worst than you seem.
"Did you hear that girl? She went to a party and had sex with like.. 5 guys."
"Yeah dude thats so degrading of her"
