Wilmington, NC. The name creatively originated from the shortening of the first letter of the town ("W") to dub, and yeah, you get it. Although, there are many places around the US that claim to be the original dub-town represent, represent, and so on, Wilmington (dubtown) has been so known since the early 1990's, which was roughly around the time when LL cool J, had a flat top.
