The forced absence from one's home, when after a natural or man-made disaster renders the hometown unlivable, the person is unable to return to home or work for an extended period of time. See also evacucation.
Following Hurricane Katrina, we spent our evacuvacation in Pensacola until the authorities gave us the signal that we could return to New Orleans.
