in the newsgroup altputer.drivers.wanted, in response to "need Sony Scanner driver", you might find "FIOG:Sony Drivers" and in the response would be the information need to get the driver, such as the url of the Sony site, another newsgroup, altputers.drivers, or even the driver itself.
