Hallway Nod Edit Meaning

The standard "hey how ya doin" nod that two acquaintances will do as they pass one another in a hallway. The entire relationship between some people may consist entirely upon these hallway nods, having attended a class with them once years before or perhaps simply recognizing the face from somewhere and not being able to put their finger on it, but not wanting to be impolite.

Seamus gave that kid he knows from somewhere the hallway nod, as he had every day the past two years.
