What is Illegrant?

(Noun) An illegal alien or illegal immigrant--someone who has entered a country illegally, usually with the intention to stay permanently. This is a portmanteau word like smog (smoke, fog).
On May 1, thousands of illegrants marched and stayed away from work while the INS took thousands of photographs.
While illegrants are an important source of low-paid labor, they strain the social support nets, take jobs from low-skill citizens, encourage exploitation by their employers and often steal identities. Illegrants need to be identified and given a chance to stay and pay their way to citizenship.
